Jesse McClure Interview

Date : 10th September 2014

Jesse McClure is a storage hunter from the hit show Storage Hunters an American television series that premiered on June 21, 2011 on TruTV. The show focuses on auctioneer Sean Kelly's sale of storage auctions at various locations.

John : Hi Jesse first of all thank you for talking to us today.

Jesse : You're very welcome!

John : When you were growing up what were the TV shows that you enjoyed watching?

Jesse : Loved Full House, Saved by the Bell, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Golden Girls.

John : Were you always interested in hunting for rare items growing up?

Jesse : My family has owned an antique mall since I was 12, so I naturally got into resale whether I liked it or not. I loved finding unique and rare things when I was young, and I still love doing it now.

John : Do you remember any of the first few items you found when you were younger at garage sales, estate sales and swap meets did you keep any of them at all?

Jesse : Video games. Used to love finding rare games then sell them online. I had my own ebay account when I was 13. The first thing I got and sold online was a signed Los Angeles Kings jersey. I still regret selling it to this day.

John : Do you remember your first day filming the Storage Hunters TV show and how did your first day go?

Jesse : I don't remember much except for how much I hated Papa Bear. I love him now... I suppose he grows on you... like a big ol' greasy beard.

John : What did you think about the other Hunters when you first saw them?

Jesse : Allegiances formed fast. Things also got sour fast. I think the TV aspect really showed people's true colors as time went on and since then my previous friendships turned into natural hatred for other characters real nature.

John : Has anything funny ever happened or gone wrong while filming that you remember and how did you react and carry on?

Jesse : Nothing will ever be funnier then when Papa Bear got a losing bin, then threw a box in anger. Except, the box bounced back and hit him in the face. It's on an earlier episode.. so funny.. I will never let him live that down.

John : You have made enemies on the show like Brandon and Lori but it looks like you have made a few good friends also like Tarrel "T Money" Ron "Pappa Bear" and Sean do you all meet up outside

the show?

Jesse : Spot on. I speak with T-Money and Sean when I can, and hang with Papa whenever I want to cause trouble. It's a good working relationship with those boys.

John : Would you ever bring the show over to the UK or create your own show touring the UK various storage unit auctions and Car Boot sales?

Jesse : Well, I think there is an aspect of this type of genre of tv that is missing especially in the UK market and I think has lots of room to grow. Not so much the storage auction aspect, but new ways to make money in the UK. Would I do it? Absolutely.

John : When the show first started did you think it would become as big as it has with such a fan base here in the UK with even the Storage King app heading straight to the top of the app charts?

Jesse : Not a clue. I have never had a desire to be an actor, or a reality star, or literally anything to do with being on television. All of this has been a complete surprise, so I am incredibly grateful for how much it has grown and the opportunities it has opened for me.

John : The question you must get asked allot is what has been your best find in a storage unit so far, so instead we want to know what is the best piece of TV show memorabilia you have ever found?

Jesse : More sentimental then valuable. I have a signed headshot from Beatrice Arthur of Golden Girls. Of course, it came from an auction so it actually is signed to "Jeff", but I couldn't care less... I cherish it like she wrote it to me, haha.

John : What projects are you currently working on and where can your fans see you next?

Jesse : I have a brand new radio show, "Jesse and The Jellyman" airing in Stoke-On-Trent on 6 Towns Radio starting October 8th, as well as a new tour in the UK starting September 17th through the 30th! I also have a brand new app called Storage King: Jesse McClure Edition for iPhone and iPad! Check it out!

John : Thank you for answering my questions today Jesse It means allot.

Jesse : Thanks for reaching out! Appreciate the opportunity.
